Fall Engagement Photos: Part 1

My fiance and I have been engaged for about a year and a half at this point and our wedding is in a little over six months. I figured it was about time to get our photos taken so we can send out save the date cards after the new year. I have a friend that is really good at taking photos so we decided over this past weekend to do an hour-long shoot with just one outfit. I honestly couldn’t be more happy with the photos and I can’t wait to do a couple more shoots because they look AMAZING. I told her that I wanted most of the pictures to be very casual and very “us”. I wanted them to look authentic and not very posed and she literally nailed it on the head with exactly that. I posted some of the pictures on my Instagram, but I also thought I would post some on here and give you guys a little back story about where these photos were taken.

My fiance and I have been dating for 6 years next month (WOW. writing that makes it seem like forever). Our very first Valentines Day we spent together we went to this place in our town called Quarry Hill. While we were there it was pretty cold outside (it was February in Minnesota so of course it’s freezing), but we were just hanging out inside his car talking. His car was turned off, but not all the way because we had the radio on and we were listening to music. When we went to go leave his car wouldn’t start because he had drained the battery out. We had to call his dad to come jump start his car (they only lived like a minute away so it wasn’t a big deal) but it was a memory I will NEVER forget. Fast forward to March 2017. We had bought a ring over the Holidays and I knew about it because I picked it out and watched it arrive in the mail, but I never actually saw it. Well, he had asked me to go hiking one day and I had a feeling that he was going to ask me. I show up to his house and he decides that he is going to drive (another clue that he was going to propose because he NEVER drives) us to Quarry Hill. At this point, I know exactly what is going on, but I am just not sure how it’s going to happen. We walk around for a little bit and then we go sit back in the car (the same car form the first part of the story) and we are sitting there talking. He goes to start the car and IT DOESNT START. I am freaking out saying “DO you know how many times this has happened to me in this exact car?” He goes out to his trunk to look at the battery and pulls out flowers and the ring. Yes, we did get engaged in a parking lot, but it was the most romantic and special moment of my life so far.

Also, almost my entire outfit is thrifted or secondhand so that is super cool!

Jacket: A New Day (purchased at Goodwill)

Top: Ann Taylor (it’s for sale on my Poshmark)

Jeans: Current/Elliott (purchased on Poshmark)

Booties: Steve Madden (purchased on super sale a couple years ago)

Thank you guys so much for reading my story on our Part 1 of our photoshoot. I will definitely be posting more pictures of our other shoots when they are done!

XOXO, Cait
