I was at work scrolling the internet the other day because I was trying to avoid doing real work… I came across the Predicted Fall Fashion Trends 2018 that Harper Bazaar Magazine put out back in March. I thought since we are getting to the middle of summer its time to start looking at the fall trends in order to prepare for the future outfits. I cannot believe I just said that I need to start thinking about fall outfits. It seems like summer just started, AM I RIGHT?!?! Anyways, I thought it would be fun to break down each trend and see if I could find anything on Poshmark that fell into the different trends!
1. Saville Row
These are classic fabrics such as plaid, herringbone, houndstooth, etc. When I was scrolling through their gallery I noticed that most of the items were an oversized men’s fitting style. Some of the designers that are featured in the gallery were Saint Laurent, Prada, Stella McCartney, and Fendi.
I LOVE an oversized plaid blazer. I think it is perfect because it can be dressed up or down and it can be worn to work or for a night out! I think it perfect to wear throughout the year and it’s very classic. Plaid blazers have been around for ages so they will never go out of style.
Blazer #1 – BDG
Blazer #2 – Ann Taylor
Blazer #3 – Vintage
2. The Heartland
These are items that are made of patchwork, quilting, and crocheting. this trend reminds me of Missoni because they are known for their knit and crochet like items. This trend also reminds me of something that Free People or an Anthropologie brand would release. I think it is very Boho-inspired and will look amazing in the fall with all of the color changes. Some brands that were featured in the gallery were Calvin Klein, Chloe, Missoni, and Isabel Marant.
I think this trend is really cute when it is done a certain way. I’m personally not a huge fan of the pictures above, but I am obsessed with the Zara dress in the middle of the pictures down below. I might have to keep my eyes out to see if I can snatch one up for cheap enough on Poshmark!
Dress #1 – Missoni
Dress #2 – Zara
Dress #3 – Skies are Blue
3. How Does Your Garden Grow?
This is everything floral with a focus on hand-painted and applique. This is my personal favorite fall trend and you can be expecting to see me in a few things that fall into this category. I love everything floral and I cannot resist a floral applique. Some of the designers that were featured in the gallery were Gucci, Dolce and Gabbana, Dior, and Valentino.
As I said above this is my personal favorite trend that we will be seeing in the fall. I love the femininity of these pieces and how elegant they look. I am a girly girl so this trend just speaks to me on a different level.
Dress #1 – French Connection (SOLD when I was done writing this post)
Dress #2 – Anthropologie
Dress #3 – Self Portrait
4. Future Perfect
These items are made of clear, transparent, or holographic. I think is a trend that is very hard to wear and pull off. You have to have a lot of confidence in yourself and fashion in order to wear this. This trend can make you look like an astronaut real quick so you need to be careful with what you wear and how you wear it. I actually have a clear jacket that I purchased off of Poshmark a few months before I ever ran across this article! Some of the designers that were featured in the gallery were Prada, Balmain, Christian Dior, and Tom Ford.
I actually own Jacket #3 down below, but I am currently waiting for the Fall and the perfect outfit to wear it!
Jacket #1 – BCBGeneration
Jacket #2 – Topshop
Jacket #3 – Topshop
5. Long and Lean
This trend is focused all around white; head to toe. I personally love a good monochromatic look, but I don’t think white would look good on my due to my skin tone. The outfits do look very chic and fashion forward though so if you are trying to up your style I would definitely try this! Some of the designers that were featured in the gallery were Valentino, The Row, Chloe, and Tory Burch.
As I stated above I love monochromatic looks. I think it is hard to pull them off though when you have different shades of a certain color, but when it is done right it looks really good. I think monochromatic looks have become really popular in the past couple years due to Kim Kardashian and her husband Kanye West. Kim wears a lot of Kanye’s clothing from his company and a lot of it is monochromatic.
Dress #1 – Show Me Your MuMu
Dress #2 – Free People
Dress #3 – Anthropologie
6. For Shearling
Last and finally not least, the Shearling Coat. This is very different than a classic fur coat because this is shearling. This is more of a teddy bear fabric that it is very soft. I’m not a fan of shearling coats as much a regular fur coats but to each their own. I also cannot pull off a duster shearling coat because of my height so maybe that is why I am not drawn to them as much, but they look great on taller people. Some of the designers that were featured in the gallery were Louis Vuitton, Dior, Tom Ford, and Max Mara.
I think this trend very specific to the type of person that is trying to wear it. You have to be very confident to stroll out of your house rocking a full-length shearling coat. I know I would have a hard time pulling it off. Some of the dupes I gave down below are not full length because I was honestly hard to find some full-length shearling coats. Some of the dupes down below could also be dupes for the infamous Acne leather jacket that people were obsessed with last year.
